Generative engine optimization (GEO)
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of getting a brand cited in the answers AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) generate. Unlike SEO, which ranks blue links, GEO targets the sources an AI cites as evidence — the new page one.
Also known as: GEO.
GEO works on two levels: measuring which sources AI engines cite for your category (AI visibility), then getting your brand into those sources (content + outreach).
How Getspotted helps
Getspotted is the AI citation API for generative engine optimization (geo): it finds the sources AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini) and Google cite for any query, per country, and the contacts behind them. Start with the docs or connect the MCP server.
